There was not a dry eye in the house as 89-year-old Colin Thakery sang his heart out on Sunday 2 June 2019 to become the oldest winner of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent! Chelsea Pensioner Colin is one of our Storytelling Plus elders who has shared stories of his life with primary school children in West London. Being crowned winner of BGT means he was able to fulfill a long-held ambition to sing for the Queen at the Royal Variety performance. We were thrilled to bits for Colin and his family; what a worthy winner! It was especially appropriate that his win came in the week which marked the 70th anniversary of the World War 2 D-Day landings.
